Focus on the VM752
From a production perspective, the VM752, our 3" Soft Midrange Dome is arguably our most complex unit. Perhaps this explains why there’s less than a handful of manufacturers that still produce these drivers in the UK today.
The initial assembly of the unit isn’t anything unusual but the dome itself is covered in layers of specific coatings and it’s these critical layers that can change the sound of the unit if not applied accurately. It’s a delicate process that takes years to master. The coatings must first be correctly mixed, then each layer is applied to the unit by a skilled technician using a turntable and fine brush in order to give even and consistent coverage. Once on the dome, the coatings cannot be altered so it’s vital to get it right first time.
This month has seen a huge order of VM752's leave our doors bound for the Far East, pictured here are the mid range domes after final assembly, complete and ready for packing.
