The K200s: A couple of months ago Jes from Kerr Acoustic came to visit our new Rampisham facility.
It's no secret that Jes is an avid fan of Volt Loudspeakers, in particular the Radials. We've been supplying Kerr Acoustic since its conception some eight years ago. Kerr Acoustic uses our midrange domes and RV3143s for their flagship K100s and more recently the smaller K200s that use the VM753 and our brand new RV2501 - Volt's smallest ever Radial. We were all thrilled when Jes said he'd brought a pair of K200s with him for a listen!
By some happy coincidence, we hadn't quite moved into our new office so it served as a make-shift listening room and initially, we were all struck with how elegant they looked. The smaller Radial and subsequently smaller cabinet size would mean they would work perfectly in a large living space. Normally our Radials are destined for studios or much larger systems so to see a Radial in a smaller system designed for home HiFi (albeit quite a large home) was really quite a special moment.
Naturally, we were eager to hear them. The K200s did not disappoint. We were immediately struck by the wide and immersive sound stage created by the Kerr 200s and the overall level of clarity. Unsurprising was the sheer amount of power, depth, and clarity delivered by the bass driver - we are well aware of the capabilities of RV 2501! However, it's Kerr's design that ensures that it doesn't overpower but compliments the overall sound of the system.
The Kerr 200s incorporate a transmission line design and partnered with our components is an innovative ribbon tweeter. The system handled dynamic shifts in music effortlessly and accurately making the K200s ideal for monitoring in smaller studios or for a seriously luxurious home listening experience.
